tracenza. passport · Digital Product Passport
The EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) introduces the Digital Product Passport: every product will have a digital record of its origin, materials, repairability and recycling. Those who prepare early also gain a commercial edge: with tracenza. passport we deliver a working passport on your product.
Method
We identify what information your category requires and where it sits today.
QR, NFC or RFID: based on cost, customer experience, anti-counterfeiting and warehouse processes.
The passport is generated and updated from your systems, not filled in by hand.
Solutions
A tap or a scan opens the record of the individual product or batch.
NTAG 424 DNA NFC tags verified with authentia.: every read is checked and clones are detected.
For wine, ingredients and nutrition information available straight from the bottle.
The passport grows at every step, from the production batch to delivery.
An example
What someone sees when they hold their phone to the NFC tag on the bottle. The sections open just as they do on the phone; alongside, what each one contains and why it matters.

A printed QR code can be copied in a second. The NTAG 424 DNA NFC tag signs every read: the page opens with “Genuine product” and the read number, so the passport also proves that the bottle is the real one.
GTIN, batch and serial number of the individual bottle. The address follows the GS1 Digital Link standard, so distributors’ and customs systems can read it too.
For wine it has been mandatory since 8 December 2023 (Regulation (EU) 2021/2117): ingredients and the nutrition table can be online, as long as the energy value and allergens stay on the physical label. The Commission’s guidelines require it to be kept apart from marketing content and not to collect data on the people who view it: that is why it opens on its own page, with no promotion and no tracking.

Ingredients: grapes. Preservatives: sulphites.

The producer’s story, with verifiable dates and places: the part customers actually read, and what sets the winery apart.
Carbon footprint, where measured, and the environmental labelling codes for packaging required in Italy (GL 71 glass, FOR 51 cork, ALU 41 aluminium).
Designation of origin, technical sheets, lab analyses: updated by the producer without reprinting the label.
The ESPR regulation provides for different access levels: the public sees the record, while authorities and supply-chain operators also see sensitive data. By changing the sections, the same record works for textiles, cosmetics, leather goods or batteries.

Not yet for most products: obligations come into force category by category. Preparing early lets you choose data carriers and platform without rushing.
QR costs less and works everywhere; NFC offers a better experience and, with cryptographic tags, protects against counterfeiting. They are often used together.
The data stays yours. We connect it to your systems and decide with you where to host it.
